Sasha Makovkin (1928-2003)

Marked: Incised Makovkin with studio mark.

Condition: No chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Few scattered glaze pops and some volcanic activity, which is all original. Natural factory crazing noted, as well as transcending areas of glaze curdling. This pot is just a stunner!

Dimensions: 13.75"h x 14"w

Notes: This massive mod globe form was created by listed Vasefinder Museum artist Sasha Makovkin of Mendocino, California who exhibited at the Association of San Francisco Potters and at the San Francisco Art Festivals in the 1950's. He worked for the Heath Pottery Studio in Sausalito, California. We have found both stoneware and porcelain pots created by this very important Northern California potter. This pot is perfect for a Voulkos or Soldner decor.
