Condition: The condition appears to be very nice, as I don't detect any damage to the pigments, such as fade, scratches, tears or etc. This item has not been removed from its original frame. The subject appears to be a watercolor on some type of board, possibly ivory or celluloid as the colors have some translucency. The gold frame shows some wear to the gilding, as shown.

Notes: Per Hughes, Lillian was born in San Jose, California. She initially studied with her father William Kirkgaard. She also studied with F. Tolles Chamberlin, Lawrence Murphy, Alson Skinner Clark and Ella Shepard Bush. She is best known as a miniaturist with some larger format work known. As noted above, the original exhibition label is present. This artist is well listed in Artists in California by Hughes, Davenports and etc. This is an investment grade portrait of an important Socal socialite Daisy Hawks.
