Condition:
The subject is in very nice condition with no tears, holes and rather
strong original pastel pigments. The matt appears to have been replaced
and the reverse dust cover is in fine shape. Frame has light nicks
and marks. This is a very nice original pastel. The subject has
not been removed from the framing. ANY reflections you see are strictly
the camera and lighting.

Notes:
Per Edan Hughes, Evelyn Belle Clogston was born in Pomona, California
on June 12, 1906. Clogston studied in Los Angeles with Douglas Donaldson,
Roscoe Schrader and Edouard Vysekal. In 1923 she settled in Portland,
OR where she remained until her death on April 6, 1966. Her married
name was Watson. She exhibited at American Artists Professional
League, 1932-36 (prizes); Oregon State Fair, 1934 (prize); Minnesota
State Fair, 1937 (prize). She had ties to the WPA and the Timberline
Lodge in Portland. Her work is in several important museum collections,
as well as the Utah Ballet. She is best known for her portraits
and their Plastic Expression, as the subject offered here.
