Notes:
Per Edan Hughes, William Persona was born in West Virginia on April
12, 1903. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and came
to Los Angeles in the 1920s for further study at the Otis Art Institute.
He then worked as a cartoonist for the Hollywood Citizen
News and Long Beach Telegram. For a few years he was an artist
for the Sydney Daily in Australia. Upon returning to Hollywood
in the 1930s, he made props for the movie studios. He was a resident
of Laguna Beach until 1972. At that time he had painted about 4,000
paintings. Leaving California, he retired to Hawaii and died on
Maui on April 30, 1996. Vasefinder is offering this oil on board
of a Mexican Bullfighter, which would be perfect for the Southwestern
decor.
