Ca.
1910 WS Parrott School Painting
Marked:
Signed with studio label, as shown with what appears to be owner's
name Norris and address.
Condition:
The subject is in pleasing condition. There are a few scattered
pinhead point losses over the piece, which are very minor. The frame
shows nicks and chips, but it houses the piece nicely. The reverse
dust cover shows wear, but it includes the gallery label. The pigments
are completely original from the use of black light.
Dimensions:
The board measures approximately 6.25 inches by 8 inches with a
frame thickness of 1 inch.
Notes:
Vasefinder is offering this finely executed impressionistic mountain
and lake painting, which is clearly vintage. The Como Company gallery
in 1928 lost a Charles M. Russell painting in a town fire from our
research, so this firm had paintings of extremely fine quality as
the one offered here. This painting is very much in the manner of
William Samuel Parrott and his student Eliza Barchus and it is out
belief at Vasefinder this is most likely a Barchus based on the
fact we have experience with this important Northwest painter. This
painting would be perfect in a bungalow decor.
