Title: Black and White Doughnut Vase

Year of Creation: 2009

Glaze: Aztec Black

Clay Body: Kai Porcelain

Dimensions: Height 11 inches, Width 7.5 inches

Artist's Statement: This piece is made of Kai Porcelain, fired to cone 12. It is assembled from wheel thrown parts. The black matte glaze is poured on the surface to contrast with the white porcelain clay. I have left the throwing lines on the neck and based to emphasize the thrown quality, while juxtaposing them with the smooth, trimmed doughnut shape. Adding the handles lends a figural sense to the vase.
