Artist's Statement: My ceramics started at Auckland Teachers College in 1960 and I became involved in the development of the Auckland Studio Potters and was a foundation member of the New Zealand Potters.

With teaching at secondary schools and laterly running Ceramics at Otago Polytechnic, I have always been involved in training, promoting and practicing ceramics.

Now, managing the distance Ceramics programme, I am heavily involved in promoting the teaching of Ceramics throughout New Zealand with our graduates now being represented in our national shows.

My own ceramics has moved into a period of reflecting on my beginnings and I have been looking at those old recipes and notes and playing with forms to show those glazes.

These pots are thrown and altered from 'Southern Clays' White Stoneware clay and I use tenmoku base glazes with Chun and Copper red. All are fired in reduction at cone eleven in my gas kiln.
