Artist's Statement: Human existence is a rather simple matter: birth, life and death. We all follow the same essential pattern. Yet, within the course of each individual life there is magnificent complexity. From geophysical properties of our environment, to individual variation within the species and all the range of historical/political forces that play upon each of our lives. Life is complex.

This interplay of simplicity and complexity interests me. It drives my work. As a poet strives to display a personal mythology to dialogue about the human condition, so I strive to enter in similar dialogue, three dimensionally, with ceramics. The work represents a record of the conversation and an opportunity for me to continually refine and display my ideas about the world.
