Artist's Statement: I am looking for ways to explore ways of working with the texture of the pieces I make, either in the form or in the surface treatment. In this case, the movement in the form gave me a canvas to add a surface texture. Crushed eggshell was mixed into a red flashing slip and brushed onto the high points of the throw lines, and in the wood/salt firing, the melting calcium created both visual and tactile textures.
