| Lori Theriault Asheville, North Carolina Title: Woodfire Vase with Eggshell Ash Year of Creation: 2007 Glaze: Flashing slip with crushed eggshell outside and Korean celadon inside Clay Body: Zellastone Dimensions: Height 12 inches, Width 5.5 inches Artist's Statement: I am looking for ways to explore ways of working with the texture of the pieces I make, either in the form or in the surface treatment. In this case, the movement in the form gave me a canvas to add a surface texture. Crushed eggshell was mixed into a red flashing slip and brushed onto the high points of the throw lines, and in the wood/salt firing, the melting calcium created both visual and tactile textures.
