About
Gary Hootman
Kiln Opening and Sale

Dear Public,

In the continuation with Vasefinder's effort to celebrate the American Potter, I am pleased to announce the launching of this site for Gary Hootman of Swisher, Iowa. Over the last few decades, Gary has passionately worked on his craft to reach collectors around the world. His most recent accomplishment in the medium is the featuring of his platter Anagama in Lark's monograph 500 Platters, Plates and Chargers published in 2008. That platter is offered in this special sale of work that includes his most recent work, as well as vintage work.

As a wood fire potter, his forms have a familiarity because of his attention to historical details. His ability to orchestrate the chaos of fire in a chamber to decorate these forms provide for unique surfaces of every pot he creates, where the enrichment of the form will tell the story of a craftsman that cares about his work. His honesty and integrity as a person is captured in every one of the pots offered in this sale. I am very proud to extend this offering to the public and to know this potter and friend.

In particular, Gary will be shipping each of the objects from his studio. As you review the sale site, I encourage you to send an email to Vasefinder through the pages if you would like me to place a hold on any pot. Combined orders to save on shipping are definitely part of this process. Shipping will be provided through USPS Parcel Post and Fedex for the large objects. Payment is available through personal check, money order and Paypal with confirmed addresses. Vasefinder will accept Paypal payments on behalf of Gary to confirm.

Sincerely,

Charles A. Blim Jr., President
