Condition: Nice condition overall. Rather faint crease on cover corners and a very old faint water stain is seen on binding edge only - not affecting the pages.

Notes: 1970 First Edition. This 130 page soft cover book has extensive text and many photo's of pottery and well known studio potters from the late 1960's era. The text covers Clay types, sources, preparation methods, clay tests and more. There is an extensive glaze testing section covering formulas, compounds, stoneware glazes, colors in glazes, keeping records, test tiles, equipment, slip glazes etc. Kiln designs explored from burners, pit kiln and electric kilns. Many photo's in this book include: Bernard Leach vases and photo of him decorating a tall vase, master potter Stig Lindberg carving a vase along with other views of his sculptures along with several other of his Gustavberg pieces also shown, Karl Martz throwing a large vase, Roger Corsaw thrown and carved vases shown, Frans Wildenhain 24" sculpture and other photo's of him with other potters, Jerry Rothman and his huge male nude wall sculpture, Victor Spinski, Nino Caruso, Janet Leach bowl and vase, Angelo Garzio pieces shown, Lisa Larson of Sweden figures, Kenji Kato in action, Les Lawrence, Kenneth Ferguson charger with raised figures and other pieces, Don Schaumburg of Arizona State University, Shoji Hamada decorating a huge charger, 30" wide floor vase by Nan Bangs Mckinnell, 28" tall vase by James McKinnell, Paul Soldner in action raku firing and his raku vases shown, John Kudlacek, Lauren Harper, Bengt Berglund of Gustafsberg Sweden, Charles Fager, John Schumaker of Colorado sculpture and many more photo's in this book. Nice section on throwing pottery in Japan.
