Artist's Statement: This vase is meant to have a low profile, be sculpturally interesting and allow for the blossoms to rest directly on each opening. The glaze is one that I commonly use and contains some copper. Once the glaze is applied, I spray a thin layer of titanium dioxide over the glaze before firing in a sodium atmosphere. The variation of visual complexity and crystal growth on the surface of this piece is particularly satisfying.
