Artist's Statement: I find as a visually impaired artist that I am always trying to do new things and pushing myself to improve my art and discover new ideas and techniques. This helps me deal with my visual difficulties, and with other things in life I am unable to do. Clay and my pottery wheel are my release and escape in that aspect of my life. I find it exciting and calming to make new and different pieces. I take pride in how others enjoy the work I create. The whole process amazes me from the making of the piece to the loading it to the firing of the piece. This piece was fired for seven days in wood kiln using salt. There was a lot of hard work and many sleepless nights spent anticipating and dreaming of its unknown outcome.
